Why does my guy friend tell me how to cut my hair?

I have long hair and he told me "I think you should cut it short to your jawline. I think it'd look good that way.

He's said this to me many times....he's not my boyfriend though. What's up with that? (Oh, and he's straight.)

He might just be giving suggestions. Just cause he offers his opinion does not mean he likes you, no matter how bad you want to believe he does.

tell him friends accept each other the way they are.

don't you ever give suggestions to your mates on what clothes to wear or hairstyles?

The best answer to your question, if he is your friend, is to ask him yourself...then you won't have to keep guessing and wondering!

Do not do it, first of all. Take his advice, JUST LIKE ANYONE ELSE and use it to see what better hairstyle you might be able to get in the future besides what you've got now, and consider also what he suggested. Then pursue a new 'do' and actually get it! cool? yea, I think so

Are you SURE he's totally straight? Maybe he see's that he can control you somehow. Maybe you depend alot on his opinion.

He has a fetish for girls with short hair.

A suggestion is made once, maybe twice. When a suggestion is made repeatedly it is definitelly badgering, and more likely than not, a sign of controlling behaviour. I read a book regarding verbal violence and it said when someone who is supposed to be a friend thinks they know what's better for you than you do, it is a sign of verbal violence, and you need to speak up. For example, "Thank you for the suggestion you made but making it more than once is not going to persuade me one way or another because I know what's best for me". After all it's your hair and ultimately you are the one who has to be happy with your hairstyle and live with it 24/7, not your friend. You are very perceptive to realize something was up with this, more than just a haircut-- it's about control.

don't let him control you if you want hair long let it be long if short let it be short your in control of hair not your guy friend/
