What is a good hairstyle/cut for curly/wavy hair?

i have curly/wavy hair that i really do nothing with because i feel like there is nothing i can really do with it. i have to put hair gel and hair spray on it just so it will stay, or else its gets all poofy and ..grrrrrrrr.!last time i got a haircut she cut it wayyy to short for my hair type and i HATED it when i would leave my hair curly cus it would look even shorter. so i would straiten it every day. and that really fryed my hair.

so i was wondering if anyone knew a good hairstyle/cut for my type of hair. somethong that looks nice when i straighten it and also when i just leave it wavy/curly.

Ask for LONG layers (make sure you specify long or you'll get really poofy 80s looking hair :P), which will create volume and movement even when you haven't styled your hair.

Ask for a side fringe. This will be long enough so you can pull it back when you want to or have it swooping across your face when you want a more structured look.

Ask for very thin highlights in 2 or three different colours that are lighter than your own. The fantastic thing about having curly hair is that highlights look waaaaay more natural.

And keep it long!!!

Once you've got the cut, if you're going to straighten, use a product that will give your curly hair heaps of moisture and prevent it from getting frizzy, dry and split. (I use Kerastase Bain de Force Shampoo and Condition for Weakened to Fragile Hair) or a curl-specific range of products (like Redken Fresh Curls Shampoo and Conditioner).

This is basically the style giselle bunchen has had her hair in for years. I have attached a couple of photos. Maybe bring one in to the hairdresser if you like the style - they love having pictures to get a better idea of what you're after.
