Do you have to have thin-ish hair in order for side-swept bangs to look good?

i have pretty thick hair and straight bangs. but i really want to get my hair cut shorter with side-swept bangs, only problem is, i'm afraid that it won't work out...help?

Well, only your hairdresser knows for sure...*wink*

Seriously, though, if you don't trust your stylist to advise you, then I would take into account any cowlicks around your forehead (I have an awful cowlick that "parts" any bangs in a very unseemly way). It sounds like your bangs hang straight down, which wouldn't indicate cowlicks--lucky you!

You'll probably have to "train" your hair to go the side by combing it while blow-drying it after a shower (hopefully your hair artist can show you how).

Also, especially at first while you're getting the hang of it, you might wanna use cute, retro of girly clips or bobby pins to hold your hair off to the side.

Hope this helps, I say go for it! :)

More like mediumish hair!

If your hair is too thick get it thinned out...

actually, they work better with thick hair, in my opinion. cuz otherwise if your hair is really thin, they get really separated and junk. ((trust me, i know.)) lol.

I dont think it matters as long as the person who cuts your hair knows what they are doing.

I think a little thicker is better because as the person said about getting separated I agree. Also it tends to look greasier and oily faster.

erm. i have extremely thin hair it my bangs don't separate or anything. But to answer your question no. My friend has super think nice hair and she's got side swept bangs. Plus if it's too thick then they will thin them out for you. They don't have to thin your hole head just the bangs. That's what they did my last haircut.

I think you should let your bangs grow out a little, part your hair to the side, and have side-swept bangs. They look much better long than short.

And I think they look better with thick hair, they don't get all wispy and weird.

I think it looks a LOT better with thick hair! I have thick hair and I have side swept bangs and it looks so hot. Best hairstyle I've ever had. You can get the front kind of layered and thinned out so that it isn't "poofy". Go for it, they look awesome!q
