Dry and brittle hair?

My hair is long and naturally wavy. A year ago I had it coloured and for the past year and a half I have had to do my hair up in a bun almost all the time because my hair is badly damaged, dry and brittle. I look unkempt with my hair down. I tried home made remedies (olive oil, mayonaise), but I just don't see the difference. What to do? Must I have my hair cut shorter?

Dry and brittle hair?

Yes you should . thats the only way to get rid of the split ends and everything. And you should try and stop wearin it in a bun or in a ponytail all the time because that causes the middle of the hair to break alot. Before it is cut make sure you add moisturizer to ur roots to stimulate new growth. and use a deep conditioner after shampooing. Also stay away from heat stylingand if u r goin to use it .Treat the hair with a pre-heat cream or something. But u should really get it cut and if u dont want a drastic change tell the hairdresser to cut it gradually.

go to your hair dresser and ask her what to do.

Dry and brittle hair?

try trimming your hair an inch like every 3 weeks, so you can grow the damage out.

Also, try a restoring conditioner, i have curly hair and the same problem. I found that pantene renewing conditioner, or the ice shine one works awesome,,and you will see a differnece.

Try Burt's Bees' Avocado Butter Hair Treatment.

After 2-3 times of using the Avocado Butter my hair was soft and a lot less damaged.

Also you could use leave in conditioners.

the best answer would be to cut off most of the damaged hair and start over. you might be able to salvage it with some very strong products. you could also try products made for "ethnic" hair, because they're generally super-moisturizing. the best bet would be to speak to a hairdresser or someone at a salon. good luck!

Try Joico K-Pak shampoo %26amp; conditioner. The conditioner can used daily or as a deep conditioning mask. These are the best for dry hair.

Try to just have the split ends trimmed every 4-6 weeks if you really want to keep your length.

Use a super absorbent microfiber hair towel to reduce drying time. Blow drying is hard on your hair and this will also shorten the amount of time needed to let it air dry. e.g. Aquis, The Body Shop

Dry and brittle hair?

no!!! don't cut your hair!!! i suggest trying burts bees avacado conditioner. this really worked for me.

Dry and brittle hair?

This is actually a common problem when you color your hair. The only thing I can tell you is to use products that moisturize your hair and help restore it from its dry, brittle state. I use Pantene Pro-V Conditioner. I've heard that shampoo dries up your hair, so I wouldn't use that as much. Also, depending on how dry your hair is, have it deep conditioned from biweekly to every month.
